The rumoured choice of the current Oyo South Senator and an Ibadan High Chief, Sen. Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli as the consensus gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) come 2027 has been described as a mere media hype to gain attention.
One of the leading aspirants for the same gubernatorial ticket and the current Minister of Power, Chief Bayo Adelabu gave this reaction to the narration which surfaced earlier on Tuesday which disclosed that the party had adopted consensus candidates in Oyo, Lagos, and Ogun States.
The Minister spoke through his Special Adviser on Strategic Communication and Media Relations, Bolaji Tunji, noting that such insinuations are typical during a politically charged period.
As a member of the APC, the Minister insisted that the party had yet to pick a candidate in the state, stressing that political actors often push narratives to gain attention and remain relevant.
“You see, at a time like this, especially when nominations are approaching, there will be many speculations, and that is normal in politics. My principal did not say he will not contest the gubernatorial election. People will want to promote ideas just to create confusion.
“And in progressive politics, there is orderliness. There is also hierarchy, so all these factors will come into play. All those things are just media hype”, the Minister affirmed.
