Olubadan set to tackle hunger, insecurity with two initiatives

As part of the initiatives of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja towards enduring sustainability and development in his domain, the monarch has completed every arrangement to inaugurate a community security outfit, ‘The Ibadan Guards’ and a food drive intiative, ‘Gaari Ibadan’.

The intiative would boost security, economic growth and development according to the committee in charge of the event.

The commissioning of the security outfit, code-named “Ibadan Guards” the committee further disclosed would enhance security in Ibadanland, with the outfit collaborating with other security agencies to combat crime and it has been received with applause by stakeholders, who praised Oba Ladoja for his vision and leadership.

Olubadan was described as a seasoned leader with a background as a successful businessman, former Senator and former governor, who had consistently demonstrated his commitment to the development of Ibadanland.

“This latest initiative is seen as another step towards achieving his vision for the region and he is being commended for his efforts as a champion of progress and development. The Ibadan Guards will work closely with other security agencies to ensure Ibadanland is safe and secure”, the committee stated.

“Gaari Ibadan”, an initiative of the Olubadan Committee on Economic and Investment, under the chairmanship of former Minister of Trade and Investment, Olori Chief Dr. Onikepo Akande (OON) and co-chairman, former Head of Service of the Federation, Prof. Dapo Afolabi (CFR) along with other prominent sons and daughters of Ibadanland aims to address hunger and alleviate suffering among the poor and less privileged in the ancient city and is expected to have a positive impact on the lives of Ibadan residents.

The commissioning of “The Ibadan Guards” and “Gaari Ibadan” said to have received significant support from the Baales of Ibadanland under the leadership of Baale Oluhunde Ige, F.D. Ige, “is seen as a significant milestone in Oba Ladoja’s efforts to drive development and growth in Ibadanland”.

Prominent individuals, including traditional leaders, government officials and community stakeholders are expected to witness the commissioning of these important initiatives.
