Modakeke, Osun State born High Chief and football coach of international repute, Chief Adegboye Onigbinde on Monday evening passed on at 88.
This announcement was made in a statement signed by Mrs. Bolade Adesuyi on behalf of the family shortly after the man breathed his last at the General Hospital, Ile-Ife.
Described as the first indigenous Coach of the Super Eagles, the family said “with great gratitude to God for a life well spent, we announce the passing of this great man, a Modakeke High Chief, the first indigenous Nigerian Super Eagles Football Coach, father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend who passed unto the great beyond a couple of minutes ago.
“We thank God for the fulfilled life and your contributions to the Nigeria nation and the world as an unequalled football coach.
“We pray that your soul will rest perfectly in the bosom of your and our Lord Jesus Christ. Good night till we meet to part no more”, the family added as it stated that final funeral arrangements would be communicated later.
