No fewer than 20 students of the Federal University, Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA) in Katsina State have been rusticated after they were found guilty of committing various forms of examination malpractices.
The rustication which was approved by the management of the institution would take effect from the Second semester of the 2025/2026 academic session according to the statement by the institution’s Information and Protocol Director, Nasiru Abdullah.
In the statement, Abdullah said the decision was made after the affected students appeared before a Disciplinary Committee, after which the report of the Committee was submitted to the school’s Senate for ratification.
According to him, “the Senate of Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA) has approved the rustication of 20 students found guilty of committing various forms of examination misconduct with effect from the Second semester of the 2025/2026 Academic session.
“Approving the verdict after receiving the Students’ Disciplinary Committee Report during the 138th Regular Senate Meeting held on Wednesday, 11th March, 2026 at the Twin-Theatre of the Main Campus, the Chairman of the Senate and Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mohammed Khalid Othman said the decision is in accordance with Section 13.3, subsection 13.3c of the University’s Policy on Examination Irregularity & Academic Misconducts.
“Prof. Othman commended members of the Committee for their commitment to FUDMA’s examination misconduct policies and for ensuring adherence to due process, fairness, firmness and justice”, he added.
The statement further disclosed that “the Senate’s decision is to send clear signals to all students to brace up to do the needful and also serve as a deterrence to all those who want to cut corners through lack of adherence to FUDMA’s rules and regulations governing examination conduct”.
Abdullah added that all the affected students were given an opportunity to appear before the Committee to defend themselves.
