A Frontline member of the opposition party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the former governor of Ekiti State, Peter Ayodele Fayose has said his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is in the interest of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The former governor, who insisted that national interest should be placed far above party loyalty maintained his action by supporting President Tinubu could not be termed anti- party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fayose spoke at the just concluded National Convention of the Wike- backed faction of the PDP in Abuja on Sunday where he emphasized that “political differences are a normal feature of democracy”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He asserted that “Nigeria is for all of us, you are first an Ekiti man before you become a political party card bearer. All the former governors are behind the current governor”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Citing examples from international politics to support his position, the PDP stalwart remarked that “Obama is not supporting the Democrats, the former president is not supporting Trump, have they expelled them? No, democracy will have those differences on national issues”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He insisted that support should be based on competence rather than party affiliation, saying, \u201cwe must not say because it\u2019s our party member that must win when we know our party member has no capacity.
